Wargame 1st Bull Run 1861 1.0

The Battle of Bull Run, also known as the First Manassas, took place on July 21, 1861, marking the first significant engagement of the American Civil War. Both Union and Confederate forces anticipated a decisive victory that would potentially end the conflict. However, the battle resulted in a near defeat for the Confederacy, which unexpectedly transformed into a victory that lacked any conclusive impact, leading to four additional years of warfare.

This wargame presents an opportunity to engage with this historically significant battle by allowing players to assume control of either side against computer AI or in a hotseat format against another player. The game's detailed map of the Bull Run battlefield is divided into hexagonal sections, each representing approximately 500 yards.

The combat units utilized in the game are regimental in structure, with each figure symbolizing 100 men or 10 artillery pieces. Victory is determined by capturing flagged areas on the map, indicating ownership, as well as by inflicting greater losses on the opposing force.
